BENEFITING: Save a Childs Heart Foundation US
In honor of my Bar Mitzvah, I've decided to raise money for an organization that combines my growing connection to Israel with my desire to help children who have life-threatening illnesses and my passion for baseball. With the help of my Rabbi, I found the perfect organization...Save A Child's Heart (SACH). SACH is an Israeli-based international humanitarian organization whose mission is to provide life-saving cardiac surgery for children from developing countries.
For my Bar Mitzvah I am learning about the Jewish obligation of Pikuach Nefesh, or saving a life, and that is what SACH is all about. By helping sick children, regardless of nationality, religion, color, gender, or financial situation, Save a Child's Heart is helping to save lives and make this a better world.
If you want to learn more please go here:
It costs $1,000 to fly a sick child to Israel for the surgery; $2,500 pays for the housing and food while they are in Israel; and $6,500 will pay for the hospital costs. Through gifts and fundraising, my goal is to collect a minimum of $2500.
I am on a club baseball team called DStar and for the spring league this season I am making a pledge to contribute my own money based on the following criteria:
Single - $1
Double - $2
Triple - $3
Homerun - $4
RBI - $1
Play in the field = $1
If you would like to join me with this goal please email me at Schenckbarmitzvah@gmail.com and we will send you an update and a final record and keep track for you.
OTHERWISE if you can please donate $5 or $10 to this charity in honor of my bar mitzvah and help me reach my goal.
The money that I collect will be used to save children's lives. I will have the opportunity to correspond with the family who we help and to keep in touch with the child whose life we save.
Thanks for being a part of this wonderful project with me.
