This fall, for the first time in over 20 years, the City of East Lansing Ceramic Arts Program couldn’t open its doors to students; the City has had to close the aging Baily Community Center building that housed the program. We're a group of amateur potters who want to help the ceramics studio relocate and reopen.

Open to all ages, this studio brought together retirees, students, and other residents to learn the ceramics process, from wheel throwing and hand building to decorating and glazing. It fostered a lively community atmosphere and provided summer and after-school classes for children.

The GOOD NEWS is that a new home is available for the studio in the city’s Hannah Community Center. This is a much larger, more modern facility that will give the program room to expand its hours and server more artists.

the new space requires plumbing, shelving, and code-compliant flooring and ventilation. The City does not have the money to completely fund the renovation of the new space.

Our fundraising committee has already secured a  matching funds grant from Michigan Council of Arts and Community Affairs (MCACA). We need your help to raise the remaining funds. All funds raised will go directly to capital expenses of the remodel.
