BENEFITING: Grid Alternatives
EVENT DATE: Nov 14, 2015
Next week, I am traveling to Nicaragua with GRID Alternatives, the nonprofit I work for, and a team of volunteers to install an off-grid solar PV system on a health clinic in the rural community of Agua Fria, Esteli. The nearest hospital is hours away by foot; electricity will allow the community to refrigerate medicines and power basic medical equipment and lights so people can be better treated in the community.
This is the second project we have done in this community; the first was a small system on the community school. As part of my trip there I will be documenting the impact power is already making in the community. On a personal level, I would also like to bring the community a gift of school and medical supplies.
Thanks to all my amazing friends/family I met my original $300 goal in a single day. Let's do even more! Click here to learn more about the community and our work there.
