Africa Development Promise’s (ADP) mission is to strengthen the collective action of rural entrepreneurial women to advance sustainable business and economic independence in East African communities. With offices in Rwanda and Uganda, ADP ensures that women farmers are poised to capitalize on East Africa’s increased market-based approaches in agriculture. In fragile rural economies, enterprises with a single ownership model tends to fail because individuals cannot bear to take the risk alone. Cooperative business models have proven effective because ownership and responsibilities are shared thus increasing the potential for economic growth but more importantly the governance structure systematically provides rural women the opportunity to move out of the informal economy into the legitimate one. ADP delivers programs that strengthen cooperative management, governance, and efficiency, while also building strong technical skills.
