Adrianne Haslet Runs Her 2nd Boston Marathon
March 22, 2018
Adrianne Haslet ran her first Boston Marathon on April 18, 2016. Just three years after losing her left leg in the marathon bombings, Adrianne was on the course reaching yet another milestone in her recovery and her return to life and activities she enjoys. The professional ballroom dancer will returned to "dance across the finish line" once again on April 16th in the 122nd Boston Marathon.
Adrianne was introduced to Limbs for Life shortly after her limb loss and embraced working to raise awareness and funding for those without resources for prosthetic care. She serves on the LFL Board of Directors, as an ambassador, has chaired #GivingTuesday programs, and raised funds for Limbs for Life in her first marathon run and through multiple other activities. Her adventures include climbing Cayambe in Ecuador, and traversing part of the Annapurna Circuit in Nepal, meeting with amputees in their hospital less than a year after the devastating earthquakes there. Today, Adrianne is an active blade runner, dancer, adventurer, and a fierce global advocate for amputee rights. She has become an inspiration through her positive attitude and infectious smile.
Funding from Adrianne's 2018 Marathon Team effort will benefit Limbs for Life Foundation and provide new prosthetic limbs for amputees currently waiting on a limb. On average 507 individuals lose a limb each day in the U.S. alone. In 2017, over 2,100 amputees received assistance from Limbs for Life.
