Every year Community Forklift staff and fans join together under the Forklift Freezer banner! Jumping in the cold Potomac so we can raise funds for CCAN and to effect change in our local environmental policies. It's just one way our quirky staff likes to give back throughout the year.
If you'd like to support our freezing folly, please consider leaving a pledge on your favorite Forklift Freezers profile.
In Memory of Josh Bombeck
We are very sad to share that our friend and coworker, Josh Bombeck, passed away on December 1st, 2015. He had been a Reuse Associate here for several years. The news was sudden and unexpected, and we are grieving together because there are not many people at Community Forklift that Josh did not touch in a meaningful way. Josh was a mentor, a good friend, and a skilled craftsman, and he was a strong advocate for reusing historic materials, helping the community, and protecting the environment. Josh loved us and we loved him.
Josh was also the most enthusiastic Forklift Freezer the Polar Bear Plunge has ever known. Each year he raised the most money and encouraged the most energy and excitement from our staff and team members. His enthusiasm and love for this event has inspired us to plunge in his honor this year and do more fundraising than ever before! Please join us in memory of Josh Bombeck by sponsoring the Forklift Freezers in their plunge, using Josh’s page; or come on out and cheer us on!
We're always happy to see Community Forklift fans come out to cheer us on or even join our team! Please email Events@CommunityForklift.org to join us on the big day!
