I'm riding in this year's PedalPGH event, and when I saw that BikePGH is partnering with the American Cancer Society, I thought it would be fitting for me to help raise money for this organization. My father died of cancer when he was 42 (and I was 18), and I have missed him for a long time. If it is possible to help people keep their beloved family members with them for a longer time than I had with mine, I'd like to contribute to that. I hope that you might be too.
I'm training to ride in the 40-mile route this year, having been riding my bike up and down Pittsburgh's hills for about six weeks now, with about six weeks to go. For a flat-lander such as myself (fellow Houstonians will understand) who has a few pounds to shed, this is a pretty big challenge. Won't you join me by challenging cancer while I challenge the hills?
