Being a champion for those individuals and families struggling with mental illness and addictions is deeply personal to me. Following the birth of my second child, I tried to overlook postpartum depression until it become major depression. It was a very difficult time for my family and me. While I often felt as though I was drowning in a pool of darkness, the support of my family, doctor, and my own creativity all played major roles in lighting my pathway to recovery. Mental illness can happen to any of us at any time. Depression and anxiety impact many people and families. Words of hope and positive, uplifting affirmations can be difficult to come by during dark times. I so hope that my book can bring a ray of sunshine to someone! Being creative has always played an important role to me in reducing stress and caring for my own mental health. I'm overjoyed to support art therapy to help others in their own recovery. Thank you so much for your kind, generous and thoughtful support of the creative role in the recovery of mental illness and addictions!
