In 2012 I had the opportunity to visit the tiny little country of Burkina Faso located in West Africa. It wasn’t long after I arrived that I fell in love with the country and its people.
A country that has been recently recognized as the third most miserable place in the world to live and where 1 and 3 children die before the age of 10 due to water borne illnesses had captured my heart.
Since my return from Burkina Faso not a day has gone by where I haven’t searched for answers to the many issues facing the people of this tiny country. My heart breaks for the harsh realities and conditions they must face on a daily basis. But each day they awake full of life ready to run the race of daily survival.
One of the many passions that I have in life is marathon running and it is the one in which I have an opportunity to utilize and to make a difference and provide clean water to the people of Burkina Faso.
My goal over the next few years is to travel the world and compete in the 6 World Marathons raising money to drill wells in Burkina Faso.
Having already completed the New York and Chicago Marathons, my journey continues this April with the Boston Marathon. Ironically enough the marathon takes place on my birthday, April 15th (some birthday gift to myself), but I can think of no greater gift than the gift of clean water.
My hope is that you will thoughtfully consider supporting me while I run the Boston Marathon with a donation which will go towards drilling wells and providing clean water for the people of Burkina Faso.
Stay humble! Keep running!
