My fundraising goal: $7,500
On April 20th I‘ll be going to the starting line in Hopkinton to run the 26.2-mile (42.2KM) Boston Marathon to benefit Wake Up Narcolepsy. This is the second year in a row I have the privilege to support this important cause.
Narcolepsy is a serious, severely misunderstood and misdiagnosed medical disorder in desperate need of funding for research. The funds raised during the Boston Marathon Fundraiser will be donated directly to narcolepsy researchers trying to gain a deeper understanding about this serious medical disorder to improve the lives of people suffering from it.
The 2015 Boston Marathon will be my fifth marathon and fourth in a year and half. My goal is 3:25. My best marathon was my last one where I ran 3:35, but with your help and support I hope to better that.
Last year's Boston Marathon was a special experience; words cannot express the emotions I felt running that race. I was constantly reminded of the reason I was running - to support the people who suffer from Narcolepsy and for the people who cannot run for themselves. These elements helped push me through to the finish line; despite the knee injury I suffered three weeks before the race.
I felt firsthand how tough this race is and I am nervous for it this year but I know with your help, I will persevere. Last year, the toughest element was the weather - training in the harsh winter conditions that living in Canada offers, combined with the heat on race day presented its own set of challenges.
April will be here before we know it. And of course on race day I’ll be working hard on the course, climbing all the hills, including Heartbreak Hill and the last small hill right before the finish line where my leg went numb last year and I thought I was going to collapse before pushing through to the end. I know from experience how satisfying it feels to make it through a tough race like Boston. And with your generous support, I’ll know the satisfaction of advancing the work of Wake Up Narcolepsy again.
By donating today, you’ll be supporting the untiring work of “WUN”. You’ll be helping people everywhere whose lives have been turned upside down by the debilitating symptoms of narcolepsy. You can learn more about the horrible conditions that people with narcolepsy suffer from here: http://www.wakeupnarcolepsy.org.
Thank you for your support!
PS: Your support is greatly needed as we try to raise awareness and fund research to help people who suffer from this awful neurological disorder.
PPS: If you cannot make a donation, please consider sharing this page with friends and relatives via email or on Facebook and twitter. Any help you can give is greatly appreciated.
