EVENT: Boston Marathon 2014
EVENT DATE: Apr 21, 2014
West Hartford, CT
Special Education Tutor, Anna Reynolds Elementary, Newington Public Schools
My fundraising goal: $5,000
When Joanne Marino, a colleague and friend at Anna Reynolds, told me about the success previous years’ teams of WUNners have accomplished, I jumped at the chance to join them in 2014. Joanne’s daughter lives with narcolepsy.
As I train for Boston 2014 and raise money to benefit Wake Up Narcolepsy, I’m leveraging my degree from Suffolk University in public relations to promote my commitment to the race and WUN! I’m reaching out to my friends and family, and to my co-workers at Anna Reynolds, where I work as a Special Ed Tutor. Currently I’m working toward a certificate in Special Education.
I’m confident members of my network will support me generously! I think they know I’m as passionate about this race as I am about my work.
Though Boston 2014 will be my first full marathon, I’ll have finished three half-marathons before raceday rolls around on April 14. My goal is to finish the marathon proudly, and I’ll be pleased to sprint down Boylston Street!
I've run the Hartford (half) Marathon to benefit Special Olympics Connecticut. Running for charity fuels me with the motivation I need to cross the finish line. Although the exhaustion I will endure will be temporary, each mile of Boston training and racing will remind me of the obstacles and challenges people with narcolepsy encounter everyday.
As a WUNner, I hope to become more empathetic and to experience the strength of people living with narcolepsy. I am inspired by the challenges they experience and the goals they accomplish in their everyday lives!
Thank you for your support!
