Jonathan Coulton is the in-house musician and co-host for NPR’s Ask Me Another. Coulton is also known for his bold experiment called Thing a Week, in which he home-recorded and released a new song every week for an entire year, giving them all away for free. Coulton quietly and independently amassed a small army of techies, nerds, and dedicated superfans who buy his music even though they don’t have to. Artificial Heart is Coulton’s most recent album and features delicious high production values and guest vocalists Suzanne Vega, John Roderick of The Long Winters, and Sara Quin of Tegan and Sara. Most of Coulton’s songs are published on his website; some songs are free, and none are subject to digital rights management.
