Tents to Nepal is a fast-growing grassroots venture providing both immediate and long-term relief to Nepal’s most affected villages, in the form of tents and other critical supplies. Over 300,000 families have been left without a roof in Nepal, and close to 8,000 schools have been flattened, leaving many survivors without food, water, or shelter. Within a week of these catastrophic events, our trucks began transporting sturdy tent canvases from North India to set up shelters in Gorkha, the district at the epicenter of the earthquakes.
Through a dynamic collaboration between ABARI (a Nepalese design and construction company), Learning Planet (a socially and environmentally-committed educational nonprofit), and Friends of India - Giving Back (an Australian volunteering organization), #TentsToNepal are providing high quality canvases for the construction of sustainably designed community spaces, health posts and transitional classrooms in 14 districts surrounding Gorkha. These long-lasting canvases, together with tools and training are offered to the local communities, who approve the designs of these sustainably built structures, and participate in their set-up process.
Tunnel tents are being constructed at lower altitudes and yurts are being utilised for community spaces, transitional classrooms, health posts and monasteries in the higher altitude areas.
You can support #TentsToNepal projects for community shelters, health posts and monasteries by donating directly on this page.
Individual donations of any amount are greatly appreciated. If you feel inspired, you may also like to share with your friends, colleagues or community to provide a transitional classroom as collective donation.
ABARI & Learning Planet’s innovative designs for transitional classrooms have been designed to provide children with a sheltered space to study, spend time together, and feel safe, particularly during the coming monsoon season.

Tents To Nepal was initiated by Olivier Zitoun and Ramana's Garden (an orphanage in Rishikesh - India). It is being supported by hundreds of donors throughout the world, including ORGANIC INDIA (a Tulsi Tea & True Wellness company – India) and UPLIFT (a collaborative media platform celebrating Oneness In Action – global).
