EVENT: 2015 Boston Marathon
"A disease called Retinitis Pigmentosa has me marching toward blindness. I've decided I'd rather run." - Erich Manser
This April, Erich and Peter will be lining up in Hopkinton MA, for the second time, to race the 119th Boston Marathon, as members of the Massachusetts Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired's Team With A Vision.
Diagnosed at age 3 with a condition called Retinitis Pigmentosa, Erich learned early on that he was facing a gradual loss of his eyesight eventually leading to total blindness. Despite the loss of his sight, Erich is a true visionary. He is an accomplished runner, swimmer, and triathlete, and he juggles a busy training schedule with an even busier work schedule and home life. As a husband and proud father of two, Erich is thrilled to be racing in his 12th marathon with Peter by his side.
Peter Sagal has been host of the National Public Radio game show Wait Wait... Don't Tell Me! since 1998. Since then, the show has become one of the most popular programs on public radio, heard by nearly three million listeners on 520 public radio stations nationwide, and heard by a million people every month via podcast.
This will be Peter's third year racing and raising funds on Team With A Vision, and his second year guiding Erich. Minutes before the 2014 Boston Marathon, Peter and Erich sat down and spoke with Robin Young, on NPR's Here and Now: http://hereandnow.wbur.org/2014/04/21/sagal-manser-marathon
Peter and Erich invite you to support their fundraising page and help the Masaschusetts Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired deliver life changing vision services to over 1,100 Massachusetts residents!
