BENEFITING: JOHN RITTER FOUNDATION FOR AORTIC HEALTH
ORGANIZER: JOHN RITTER FOUNDATION FOR AORTIC HEALTH
EVENT DATE: Nov 04, 2012
I am THRILLED to be a member of Team Ritter to run the NY Marathon on November 4, 2012. In June 2009, at age 37, I was diagnosed with a bicuspid aortic valve and an aortic aneurysm and had surgery a few weeks later to repair the aorta. At the time, I was busy raising an 18 month old daughter and a 3 year old son and I was in the best shape of my life. With no known family history of heart or aortic disease, the diagnosis was a shock. I soon realized that I was so lucky and blessed that the condition was discovered before it was too late.
I am passionate about telling people about aortic disease and passing on the Ritter Rules whenever the opportunity presents itself. I proudly wear my scar as a reminder to live life to it's fullest and be thankful for every day.
I am now 40 years old. Time to get serious about crossing things off my bucket list! Running in a marathon is a lifelong goal of mine. I have recently started training to achieve this goal. I have an extremely supportive husband, energetic kids, and a big circle of friends and family who are 100 percent behind me and are thrilled that I have this opportunity to run to raise funds for and promote awareness of the John Ritter Foundation.
