BENEFITING: PROJECT PURPLE
ORGANIZER: PROJECT PURPLE
EVENT: Marine Corps Marathon 2013
EVENT DATE: Oct 27, 2013
This October I will be running the Marine Core Marathon (my first !!). I began running several years ago with a group of friends from the gym. I never thought running would be something that I would actually enjoy and I definitely never thought I would consider running a marathon however when my friend and running mate Dino Verrelli started Project Purple after his Dad lost his battle to Pancreatic Cancer, running took on a whole new meaning.
Dino has been relentless in raising funds, awareness and working with policitians and hospitals in getting Project Purple on map as being a recognized leader for support in the world of Pancreatic Cancer. It is Dino's compassion and commitment to this cause that made me realize that I need to participate and support Project Purple because Pancreatic Cancer has taken the lives of so many of our friends and family, both young and old.
Project Purple has helped many people in different ways, listed below are just a few examples of the great work this charity has done.
1. Scholarship Program – we provide scholarships to children and grandchildren that have lost a loved one to Pancreatic Cancer or have a loved one fighting.
2. Patient Financial Aid Program – we provide families fighting PC with financial aid to help pay the every day bills.
3. Research for a cure, early detection test or improving the quality of life – we provide funding for research projects that show promise in finding a cure, early detection test or improving the quality of life for people with Pancreatic Cancer.
Please help me reach my goal and donate today, many of you have supported me in the past and I thank you for that. So if you can, please continue to support us. Remember, no amount is too small.
Pancreatic Cancer is the 4th largest killer of all cancers and the least funded of the top 10 cancer killers today. We need to do more - we have lost one too many friends, family and loved ones to this evil cancer.
Thank you all for the support!
