EVENT: Marine Corps Marathon 2013
EVENT DATE: Oct 27, 2013
In November 2012, Elli's mom, Sharon Erickson, was diagnosed with stage 4, inoperable, incurable pancreatic cancer. In 5 short months, cancer took a strong, independent, beautiful woman and robbed her of her strength and independence. She died on April 6, 2013. Jeff and Elli are determined to raise money and awareness towards finding a cure or early detection for pancreatic cancer. They are running for her and all those affected by this horrible disease.
Pancreatic Cancer is the fourth largest killer of all cancer killers and the least funded of the top ten cancers. It is also the only cancer in the top ten killer with a single digit survival rate after 5 years. To help raise money and awareness, Elli is running for Project Purple at the Marine Corps Marathon. Project Purple offers a Scholarship Program providing grants to children and grandchildren who have lost a loved one to pancreatic cancer to continue their education. Second they have a Patient Financial Aid Program that helps families pay the daily bills like mortgage, rent, and utilities due to a financial hardship caused by pancreatic cancer. Lastly they fund research towards discovering early detection and finding a cure for pancreatic cancer.
Join Team Project Purple for the 2013 Marine Corps Marathon as we raise awareness and funds towards a cure for Pancreatic Cancer.
