At the end of 2011, I knew I wanted to set and achieve a new fitness goal in 2012. Goals help me remain disciplined in my workout routine and keep me balanced despite a busy schedule. So, I signed up for the Go! St. Louis Half Marathon. Initially, I planned to walk the entire race. When I researched half marathon walking programs, I realized that I was already walking more than where they started. So, I decided to jog/walk the event. I have made training a priority, and my training is going well. I am really enjoying running and walking and increasing my speed.
Then, a friend added a new dimension to my goal. She described her project--Kids Rock Cancer. I read about the program online. I was hooked. This program has given my training an added purpose. The program is a great fit for me. Morgan and Aaron benefited from a support group when I was receiving treatment for cancer. And, both of them love music.
Please help me support Kids Rock Cancer. It is a small way that our family can give back.
Here's information about the program:
Kids can rock cancer! Our program offers an emotional outlet and vehicle of self-expression for children battling cancer and other blood disorders, by providing a session of music therapy with a certified music therapist who helps them compose and record their own song on a CD. Kids Rock Cancer is under the direction of the Music Therapy program at Maryville University and is currently offered at St. Louis Children's Hospital, SSM Cardinal Glennon Children's Medical Center and Cancer Support Community of St. Louis. Partner with us to make a difference through the healing power of music therapy—one step at a time!
Your support will be a great gift to kids and their families—and you will be inspired in return.
