EVENT DATE: Oct 16, 2016
After visiting Kenya in 2015 and again this summer to see the work and progress of Hope Water Project, I am more committed to bringing clean water to this forgotten group of people. I learned four things on my trips to Kenya:
1. The NEED is real. For miles and miles I saw women and children searching for, collecting, carrying, and drinking dirty water.
2. The SOLUTION is real. We know how to find and pump clean water. It is not a lack of ability or resources. It's only a matter of funding.
3. Our IMPACT is real. In the two trips I have made over the last two years, I have seen over a dozen wells we have installed in various communities. In these communities, thousands of people are now drinking clean water, diseases are going down, miscarriages are becoming a thing of the past, schools are being built, medical clinics are being erected, and churches are being formed. How cool is that!
4. The PEOPLE are real. While the Pokot may have poverty of water, they do not have poverty of gratefulness. Or poverty of faith. Or poverty of HOPE. They are a beautiful group of people and spending time with them made me realize I need them more than they need me.
While we have made great progress, we still have a lot of work to do. Please help me bring the most basic necessity of life, clean water, to a forgotten group of people.
