Welcome Friends to my fundraising page!
October 12th, 2014 I will be running my second Chicago Marathon and fifth Marathon overall.
Why is this milestone marathon special? Unlike last year’s craziness of running two marathons within 3 weeks time, this is the ONLY race of any length that I’m running this year. I had a setback in April training for Cincinnati’s Flying Pig Marathon, when I sent myself literally flying as I tripped myself up during a run. The resulting two bloody torn-up knees and pair of banged-up wrists convinced me to take a break, at least temporarily, to give myself a chance to heal and more importantly, to not jeopardize my ability to participate in other activities I love (i.e. salsa dancing, playing violin, etc). However, running and staying active has become a fundamental part of my life- a fuel line for my body, mind, and spirit, so I couldn’t stay away from it for long. I came back renewed in my appreciation for the ability to run, savoring both the time outdoors as well as the time to get in touch with my thoughts. I always enjoy sinking into the rhythm of a good run, buoyed by my music and the feeling of accomplishment that comes afterwards.
I so look forward to running the Chicago Marathon again. The experience last year was phenomenal. The energy is electrifying with runners coming in from all over the country and all around the world. On top of that, it's amazing to run a course with people cheering practically along the entire route!
I have chosen again to run to benefit the charity Action for Healthy Kids as I truly believe in supporting kids being educated and encouraged to live active and healthier lives. Childhood is such a critical time to build that solid foundation to a lifetime of well-being, and I hope that step-by-step, child-by-child, we are able to make that difference and give every child that basic groundwork for a better future.
Thank you for joining me in support of Action for Healthy Kids!

We Run For Healthy Kids!
Founded in 2002 by the 16th U.S. Surgeon General David Satcher, M.D., Ph.D., Action for Healthy Kids is a national 501c3 non-profit organization that addresses the childhood obesity epidemic by transforming schools into healthier places. Working together, we’re giving kids the keys to health and academic success by meeting them where they are – in the classroom, in the cafeteria and on the playground – with fun physical activity and nutrition programs that make it possible for them to eat nutritiously and play every day.
