THE STORY:
In January of 2011, my son Jack was diagnosed with a brain tumor on his left thalamus. To say our world was shaken up would be an understatement. But our amazing boy and his brothers Benjaminand Liam, showed us the true meaning of bravery and courage over the following months.
In a time when doctor visits, surgery, and multiple MRIs ruled the day, a friend told us about the Hole in the Wall Gang Camp. We went for an open house, and the moment we crossed the camp gates we knew this was a different place. A place where kids with serious illnesses could do what they wanted most. BE A KID! From fishing to horseback riding, archery, and ziplining, every activity could accomodate everyone! Jack had a blast that summer, and we enjoyed a family weekend together in the fall. This past summer was Jack's third year and we are so happy and grateful to say that his condition is stable.
One of camp's sayings is "Behind every sick child, is a family in crisis." The Hole in the Wall Gang Camp takes care of so many children every year, free of charge.
Every time I look at my son, where he was, and where he is now, I am filled with more strength and determination to help other kids experience the life changing magic of camp that he experienced.
I'm about to embark on the journey of a lifetime, by running the Boston Marathon to help make the camp dreams of more children come true.
Run along side me as I take this journey. Please share our family's story with your friends and help me to raise my goal of $10,000 to send some seriously ill children to enjoy the magical summer of camp!
