As parents of a child with an Autism Spectrum Disorder, specifically Asperger’s Syndrome, we see the challenges that those afflicted have to navigate and overcome in their daily lives. Often the seemingly simple obstacles appear to be insurmountable and as difficult as it sometimes seems we know that there are so many others that are far less fortunate than us that cannot find or afford the support that they need.
Our goal is to raise money to help fund the programs that provide the education and emotional and social support for these children and their families, especially as they mature and enter adulthood. To this end I will participate in "The Trifecta for Autism" three great world class events in 2012 (NYC 1/2 Marathon, NYC Triathlon, NYC Marathon). All of the funds raised will go to two great charities that support the development of programs for those on the Autism Spectrum. Drive for Rebecca and the Organization for Autism Research (OAR) both are fantastic “Not for Profit” organizations dedicated to this cause. All donations are tax deductible, and 100% of every dollar donated to Drive for Rebecca goes directly to charity (zero dollars are used for management of the charity).
