I love my mom…
Sixteen months ago, my mother Wendy Walter, the most influential person in my life, passed away from cancer. She was 56 years young and had a lot more to offer this world. Having said that, I feel lucky to have known her as intimately as I did. I will continue to carry her torch by spreading love, peace, and joy for all humanity now and for all those to come. I will be running in memory of my mom as well as my cousins Crista, Abby and Rory. May their strength help me to the finish line.
Cause: The American Institute for Cancer Research (AICR)
AICR is a cancer research charity that funds research that looks specifically at the links between nutrition and physical activity to cancer prevention and survivorship. Because the people I run for had a mix of cancers (brain, colon, skin), I believe the link of nutrition and physical activity will be more universally inclusive. Scientists estimate that about a third of the most common cancers could be prevented by eating well and remaining active.
The Big Ask: My goal is to raise over $1,000 towards this end. As such, I am asking for $50 as a token of your partnership to stop cancer. This is a lot of money for most people, I know that, that is why I am in awe of your participation. This is likely the only marathon I plan on ever running so you can rest assure knowing this is a one time commitment. I hope you choose to join me, either with your donation or your voice; let’s work to end cancer!
Thanks again for your support,
