Riverkeeper Sweep 2018
EVENT DATE: May 05, 2018
DEADLINE TO GIVE: May 15, 2018
Every day we benefit from living near the Hudson River-we benefit from its beauty, its wildlife, its recreational uses, and its inspiration. The Riverkeeper Sweep is one day to give back. Our 7th annual day of service for the Hudson River will take place on Saturday, May 5, 2018.
Over the last seven years, Riverkeeper volunteers have coordinated 495 projects and removed 191 tons of debris from our shorelines, including 858 tires. Trash enters the Hudson River and its tributaries through a variety of sources, harming wildlife, and impacting the economic vitality of Hudson River communities. Through advocacy, prevention, community education and stewardship, Riverkeeper is working towards a trash-free Hudson.
This year, as we reflect on the impact of the last six Sweeps, we are also looking to the future. After years of repeated clean-ups, sites are staying cleaner, longer. This means we can dedicate more energy to new Sweep sites, deepen our reach further into the tributaries and serve the River alongside new communities.
A donation of any amount to our Sweep Crowdrise campaign will make you a Riverkeeper member, and will help us continue our mission of protecting the Hudson River through activism, advocacy, , water quality sampling, cleanups, and restoration.
Show your support for Riverkeeper and a trash-free Hudson by contributing to Team Riverkeeper’s CrowdRise, setting up your own team page to raise funds for Sweep, or by joining an existing team. The more members we have standing with us, the more we can accomplish together.
