BENEFITING: Brigham and Women's Hospital
ORGANIZER: Brigham and Women's Hospital
EVENT: B.A.A. 10K
EVENT DATE: Jun 26, 2016
I will be running my first 10K this June with the Stepping Strong Team with Brigham and Women's Hospital. Please help support me in reaching my fundrasing goal!
On April 15, 2013, Gillian Reny was one of the many innocent bystanders critically injured at the finish line in the Boston Marathon bombings. She was rushed to Brigham and Women’s Hospital (BWH), where doctors and nurses worked heroically to save her life—and both of her legs.
Today, Gillian is on the road to recovery. To advance the Reny family’s commitment of turning tragedy into hope, and to honor the extraordinary BWH team that saved her life, a team of runners will participate in the 2016 Boston Athletic Association (B.A.A.) 10K road race on June 26 to support the Gillian Reny Stepping Strong Fund at BWH. Established by the Reny family in February 2014, the fund has raised more than $6.6 million to date to support innovation in trauma healing and limb reconstruction—helping future patients like Gillian to regain their strength, mobility, and spirit in order to step strong once again.
Thank you in advance for your support of this amazing group of runners. Together, we can transform trauma research and care for patients with traumatic, athletic, military, or disease-related limb injuries. You can learn more about the fund at BWHsteppingstrong.org.
