BENEFITING: Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital
EVENT: 2016 Boston Marathon
EVENT DATE: Apr 18, 2016
Thank you for taking the time to find out a little bit more about myself and Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital’s Race for Rehab team! I am incredibly excited to have the opportunity to raise money for an amazing organization and to run in the 2016 BOSTON MARATHON!
Spaulding came into my life a couple of years ago when my older sister started working for the hospital on the events team. Spaulding is one of the top rehabilitation hospitals in the world and helps people who have suffered traumatic injuries and illness including stroke, brain injuries, burns and amputations and spinal cord injury. They also have a pediatric unit that helps children that have rehabilitation needs.
I’ll never forget hearing about the Marathon bombings in 2013. Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital was there caring for 32 of the most critically injured individuals. That following year, I toured the hospital and truly saw firsthand what a difference Spaulding is making in the patient and their family’s lives. The motto of the Race for Rehab team is running for those who can’t. I never realized how lucky I am to move freely without pain and what a gift it really is. After a lot of thought, I decided this is my year to push myself mentally and physically with every training run, every cross training day and you bet the day of those 26.2 glorious miles; all running for the inspiring patients of this facility.
I have a goal to raise $10,000 for this amazing institution that has meant so much to my family and the city of Boston. Here is a video from the team in 2014 that reflects how amazing this hospital and team really is.
Your donation is helping patients find their strength and pushing me to go just a little bit further with every run. I can’t thank you enough for being on this journey with me and Spaulding’s Race for Rehab team!
