Sophia was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia when she was 4 years old. She endured over 2.5 years of medical treatment which robbed her of a "normal" childhood and isolated her from others when her counts were too low. At 7 years old and still undergoing treatment, we decided to enroll her at her first camp, Chicago Kids are Kids Camp. We were bit worried but felt more at ease because her doctor was volunteering at the camp along with other medical professionals. Since we didn't have contact with her during this week of camp we didn't know what to expect. When we picked her up she was so excited to tell us about her week and the wonderful people she met. She is now 9 and just attended her third KAKC camp. She absolutely loves it and wishes she could attend for longer. This camp is so wonderful for the children who have dealt with so much. They are able to relate, expresss, and encourage each other. Please support KIDS ARE KIDS CHICAGO CAMP!
