Last year we created Savannah Soundings to bring local, community radio to Savannah. Our dream was to provide voice and visibility to the many outstanding local organizations, events, projects and people that aren't covered by commercial radio. We filed our FCC application and recently received the first new permit to build a local Savannah station in over 15 years!
Savannah Soundings will broadcast as:
WRUU, Savannah Soundings on 107.5 FM
Now, it's time to build the station.
Savannah is a diverse, progressive and creative mecca. It stands out as a leading thought community for the New South. We have a vibrant arts scene, a healthy nonprofit sector, and a thriving small business community. Our local radio, however, is anything but local. It is corporate radio, with little room for local issues, ideas and talent. WRUU, Savannah Soundings, will offer programming that celebrates our community and our diversity.
We've selected an engineer and have a studio location at 309 E Harris St.!
We plan to start building and equiping the studio in January but a broadcast station requires a lot of gear. Your gift will help us purchase things like a FM monitor tuner, monitor speakers, a station computer and CD player, a stand-alone recorder, a distribution amplifier, microphones & stands, or a professional studio console.
With a little help from our friends, we've already raised almost a quarter of our $45,000 goal.
We successfully completed the application phase of this project. Now, let's build a local platform for things like: community debates, blackbox theater, junior reporters, streaming internet radio, speaker forums, Rap, Haiku and poetry slams, and original music performance opportunities. The opportunities are endless once we've built the station. Any donations—no matter how small—are greatly appreciated.

A little bit about programming
Savannah Soundings will be community radio with a global soul. It will highlight Savannah’s creative depth, diversity, and caring community. Music, news, and talk, both original and syndicated, live and prerecorded, will all find a home at the station. Our Program Team will accept proposals and recommend new programs that are in keeping with these values.
- the inherent worth and dignity of every person;
- justice, equity and compassion in human relations;
- acceptance of one another and encouragement to spiritual growth;
- a free and responsible search for truth and meaning;
- the right of conscience and the use of the democratic process;
- the goal of world community with peace, liberty and justice for all;
- respect for the interdependent web of all existence.
