We got it!!
Savannah Soundings is now officially...
WRUU at FM 107.5 FM!!
Last year members and friends of the UU Church of Savannah formed Savannah Soundings to create a local, community radio station that would provide voice and visibility to the many outstanding local organizations, events, and projects that aren't being covered by commercial radio. We applied to the FCC for a Low Power FM license and this summer we were awarded our PERMIT TO BUILD THE STATION!
Now, we need to build it...and we need your help.
Savannah is a diverse, progressive and creative mecca. It stands out as a leading thought community for the New South. We have a vibrant arts scene, a healthy nonprofit sector, and a thriving small business community. Our local radio, however, is anything but local. It is corporate radio, with little room to shine a light on local issues, ideas and talent. WRUU Savannah Soundings, will offer programming that celebrates our diversity!
Want to about let us know the kind of programs you want to hear? Have a program you want to host? Tell us about it on our survey!
A little bit about programming
Savannah Soundings will be community radio with a global soul. It will highlight Savannah’s creative depth, diversity, and caring community. Music, news, and talk, both original and syndicated, live and prerecorded, will all find a home at the station. A Programming Advisory Committee will accept applications and recommend new programs that are in keeping with these values.
- the inherent worth and dignity of every person;
- justice, equity and compassion in human relations;
- acceptance of one another and encouragement to spiritual growth;
- a free and responsible search for truth and meaning;
- the right of conscience and the use of the democratic process;
- the goal of world community with peace, liberty and justice for all;
- respect for the interdependent web of all existence of which we are a part.

If you're as passionate about starting a vibrant, local radio station as we are, we’d love you to join our team. As a team member you’ll create a fundraising page on Crowdrise to help raise the money to make it happen. The Crowdrise platform makes it easy and fun and your support is invaluable if we are going to build the station.
There are a million ways to help. Consider asking friends to make a donation as your birthday gift. Or run a 5K and ask your friends to sponsor you. Host a Savannah Soundings Coffee or Cocktails for Community Radio house party or simply email your reasons for supporting this project to your network of friends along with a link to your fundraising page. Kick up the volume and put the link on your social media pages! Lots of little donations really do add up. The power of the crowd is real. Please create a fundraiser and help us make a real-life difference for Savannah's musicians, poets, artists, thinkers, organizers and rising stars
Donations will purchase transmission tower and studio equipment!
We need $45,000 to engineer, build and equip the station and transmitter tower. We successfully completed the first phase of this project. Now let's build the platform for things like: community debates, blackbox theater, junior reporters, streaming internet radio, speaker forums, Rap, Haiku and poetry slams, and original music performance opportunities. The opportunities are endless once we've built the station. Any donations—no matter how small—are greatly appreciated.
