What you are supporting!

Did you know that if genetically high cholesterol is not treated early in life, life expectancy is cut short by an average of 20 years?
In order to raise awareness for Familial Hypercholesterolemia, my family and friends plan to surf 20 times in September to signify each year of life that is lost when FH Patients go undiagnosed. FH Advocates across the country will be joining us by running, swimming, biking, etc!
Please join us by letting me know you will surf or by donating $1 for each surf session.
In 1974 my dad had a heart attack the day after I was born. My grandfather and uncle died from heart attacks at age 50. A genetic disorder called Familial Hypercholesterolemia has taken a strong hold on our family. With the inability to regulate the cholesterol flowing through our systems, our bodies quickly build up plaque without agressive intervention. My son Bodie and I have inherited FH. We are the lucky ones. We are crushing this disease! Unfortunately, only 1 in 250 are diagnosed and treated. We are incredibly thankful to the FH Foundation for their research, outreach, and support.
We are fundraising to support the FH Foundation so that together we can find the over one million people in this country who go undiagnosed. This disease is manageable, and cutting edge research has brought us options that are saving lives every day. . . but FH patients can't be given these life saving treatments if they don't know they have FH. I have dedicated my time to becoming an FH Foundation Patient Advocate. Please consider donating to help us continue to train advocates, collaborate with the best cardiologists in the world, and save lives. Do you know someone with a family history of high cholesterol? Help spread the word & save the 1:250.
