The Susquehanna Workforce Network, Inc. (SWN) has helped people in Cecil and Harford Counties find jobs and change careers for thirty-one years. In today's economy, hundreds of seasoned workers had to change careers requiring them to learn new skills by enrolling in training. Increasing numbers of our citizens need assistance to complete their training that is often beyond SWN's available resources.
Let me introduce you to one of these valuable workers...Donna lost her job when her company suddenly closed. She had not updated her resume in years because she was consistently employed. The staff at the Susquehanna Workforce Centers assisted her in identifying her career strengths, updated her resume and assisted her in developing new skill sets by paying for her training costs. Transportation and childcare assistance was also provided during her training. With the support services she received, she was able to complete her training quickly, find employment in her new career, and become self-sufficient once again.
As in Donna's case, many valuable workers need to improve or acquire new skills to find employment. While in training, they still need to feed their families, pay for housing and meet other living expenses. SWN has the resources to assist with training costs but does not always have the resources needed to cover additional costs of transportation, childcare and other needs while a person is in training. Your help can make a difference. The following support will assist our motivated trainees while they are completing their training to become re-employed:
$140.00=Transportation for 8 weeks
$660.00=Childcare costs for 8 weeks
$400.00=Healthcare Student's immunizations
$135.00=Employment supplies: steel toed boots, tools, equipment, scrubs
