I am one of the lucky ones; blessed beyond belief. I have good health insurance coverage, regular check-ups and routine screenings. This year I was diagnosed with a life changing chronic illness which has altered my faith in the medical community. It has been financially draining, emotionally exhausting and frightening to deal with getting proper medical care even with good health insurance. I can not imagine what it would be like to deal with a life threatening illness without insurance.
So many people who are close to me have been affected by the devastating ravages of cancer. Many of the people I know do not have adequate insurance coverage, or have limited funds. Many end up forgoing the routine health exams and cancer screenings that would have allowed them to catch their disease in its earliest phase.
On May 3rd, 100's of paddlers will paddle Newport Bay wearing a pink jerseys to raise awareness of early cancer detection. By signing up early, woman can even receive a free breast screening at the event. If you would like to attend the event (AND I WOULD LOVE to see all of my friends and family at the event) please see the link to register for the event at
For the next 6 weeks, I am dedicated to raise awareness and donations to help those who need routine screenings. My team SUP CHICKS of So Cal’s goal is to raise $40,000 for the Standup for the Cure event. Standup for the Cure will forward 100% of the proceeds and donations directly to the Susan G Komen organization.
I am accepting donations to my page in any amount or for any reason. Maybe you have a mother or a grandmother who you want to honor with a donation. Maybe you have a freind who is newly diagnosed with an illness. Please feel free to donate on behalf of someone special in your life that you would like to honor. My goal is to have 100 people donate $10 dollars to help raise funds and awareness to help save a life.
Please click onto my page and press the DONATE button to get started. All donations are greatly appreciated.
Thank you all for your caring support - Hugs and Love, Chris
