Welcome to Team SPOKENADO,
We are a team of riders, walkers, and volunteers committed to helping others in the fight against MS, Alzheimers, ALS, and Parkinson's disease. The Tour de South Shore is a fundraising event that will start and finish at Wompatuck Start Park. The bike ride will travel through the towns of Hingham, Cohasset, Scituate and Norwell. The fundraising efforts support much needed research for Neurological diseases.
MS is a disease of the central nervous system (brain, spinal cord and nerves). It is a chronic disease and is thought to be an autoimmune disease meaning that the immune system attacks healthy tissue.
Alzheimer’s is a progressive, neurodegenerative form of dementia. Alzheimer’s occurs when nerve cells in the brain die, causing problems with thinking, remembering and reasoning.
ALS is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and the spinal cord.
Parkinson's is a long term disorder of the central nervous system that mainly affects the motor system.
To prepare and train, recruit riders, walkers, and volunteers, solicit donations, and safely finish the event, rain or shine.
