Innovative. Inspired. Intentional.
This fall, Shine on Sierra Leone (SOSL), the most effective non-profit organization in the region committed to education and entrepreneurship, is breaking ground on The Muddy Lotus secondary school. Based on the incredible success of their primary school, Shine On is thrilled to launch the Wholistic Education Curriculum- an immersive and unique academic experience for 180 amazing students. We’re talking entrepreneurial courses, holistic health, digital literacy, and more. This curriculum will be the catalyst for creating future generations of self-sustaining Sierra Leoneans who are freed from aid-dependency and it’s debilitating mindset
This is why the SOSL team is so excited to run the NYC marathon. Each of us will be running for four programs offered at the secondary school that we are beyond passionate about. We’re raising $10,000 a runner to fully fund an instructor for each respective program. We are four runners dedicated to bringing in the support for four teachers to truly help these students and their communities thrive.

Please note: As you all know, the current Ebola outbreak in West Africa is severely hitting Sierra Leone and the communities we work very closely with. That said, no one has been directly affected in our community.
SOSL's response plan is to continue providing sanitation kits, fully equipped with sanitation buckets, tap heads, and detol soap, for every household in our community and surrounding villages. We are also providing door to door instruction and discussion about the crisis, provided by our wonderful Paramount Chief Bona’s healthcare clinic. To date, we have provided over 500 sanitation stations to over 1000 people!
In this regard, 50% of funds raised by our amazing Marathon Team will go to our current Ebola Response plan. Thank you for your support!
