WANT TO KNOW MORE ABOUT GENERATION ALIVE'S PROGRAMS?
Something to Eat
Something to Eat uses the vehicles of hunger and poverty to engage young people in understanding their role in addressing other needs in the community. At a reduced cost of $.25 per meal, students raise funds for and hand package nutritious meals that are then distributed throughout the community by area food banks. More than 1.5 million meals have been distributed in the community because of this program.
Defend Free allows young people to take action against human trafficking. Young people are educated about the realities of modern day slavery and commit to further their involvement by raising funds for and hand packing Defend Free Bags filled with toiletries, hygiene products, socks, blankets and other basic necessities. Defend Free Bags are then distributed through a number of regional partners, directly to trafficking victims.
Action Teams consist of young people, committed to working alongside Generation Alive and extending their education about community needs and deeply engaging in the needs of their schools, neighborhoods, community and world. Action Team members are then required to develop self-led programs in their communities.
A.L.I.V.E. Internship Program
The A.L.I.V.E. Internship Program is the “heartbeat” of Generation Alive. Each year, upper-level high school and college students commit to participate in a rigorous leadership program. These young people develop critical thinking, program development, public speaking and service skills that allow them to facilitate Generation Alive’s programs throughout the community. The result is young people building capacity in other young people!
