I'm proud to be running the TCS NYC Marathon to help children and adults with disabilities in NE and Central Pennsylvania served by Allied Services. Any size donation will help. Donate $30 in my honor and you'll be eligible to receive a cool moisture-wicking Ryan's Run exercise shirt.
I’m 23 years old. I’m from Nuangola, near Mountain Top. I attended Crestwood High School and then furthered my education at Penn State University, earning a BS in Kinesiology. During my freshman year I wanted to make a change in my lifestyle and began running. I quickly fell in love with running and began competing in 5k races, which lead to 10k, and then recently ran in Run for the Diamonds in Berwick.
After working at Allied Services Heinz Rehab as a Physical Therapy Aide, I learned about Ryan’s Run and how all the money raised by Team Leckey has really made an impact on the children and adults who we serve. That was the moment when I decided to apply to Team Leckey in hopes of being selected to run the ING New York City Marathon.
When I received the news that I made the team, I was beyond excited. The reason I’m running the New York City Marathon is because running changed my life in such a positive way and now I want to use my love of running to change the lives of the children and adults of Northeastern Pennsylvania who need it most.
In 2015, I’ll start my doctorate in Physical Therapy and before I leave I want to make one last impact in the community where I grew up. I want to know that the money I raise will benefit people with disabilities by providing them with better equipment for their treatments and rehabilitation. When I run the marathon on November 2nd I will have the people of Northeastern Pennsylvania on my mind, knowing I am running to help others.
Four years ago, I discovered my love for this sport and running the ING New York City Marathon will be my first marathon. Being able to be apart of Team Leckey and support Allied-Services while doing something I love to do is so rewarding. The next few months of training are going to be challenging but, I look forward to raising money for the patients at Allied.
