BENEFITING: Family Services of Western Pennsylvania
EVENT DATE: May 03, 2015
This year Family Services of Western Pennsylvania's participation in "Running for Laptops" at the Pittsburgh Marathon takes on added significance as the founder of the fundraiser, Ken Lambert, has lost his wife, Jana, to cancer. Please consider making a memorial donation in her name to support Running for Laptops' mission to raise funds for students in the Educational Assistance Initiative. Jana Lambert was always a passionate supporter of Family Services and we will send an acknowledgement of your gift to the family.
The vast majority of our students are either aging out of the foster care system or the mental health system. Our students are studying to be nurses, auto mechanics, artists and even social workers. They are a special group of young adults who have not let their misfortunes keep them from being successful.
To date we have provided over 174 laptops to college-bound students. With your support we can fulfill the many requests we receive each year, and make our late-summer laptop presentation ceremony the biggest class yet!
