BENEFITING: RECOVERY ADVOCATES OF AMERICA INC
EVENT DATE: Sep 18, 2016
Mercer County Park - West Picnic Area
1638 Old Trenton Road, West Windsor, NJ
Dear Friends and Family,
It is sad to realize that the disease of addiction has affected many of our lives in one way or another. People are hesitant to talk about this misunderstood affliction and may keep their feelings to themselves. But there is help out there and recovery does happen as we have learned. Mark and I are volunteering our time to help RAA with the walk and their fund raising efforts as well as spreading the word to stop the negative stigma associated with this struggle. It is our hope, that in our own small way, we can help make a change that in turn will help others who are struggling to find support they need. We are forever grateful to RAA , and would be thrilled if you would join us to walk on Sept 18th. But if you can't, we would be so appreciative if you were able to help us meet our fund raising goal.
Love, Robyn and Mark

Recovery Advocates of America is a 501C3 not for profit peer to peer center that strives to provide education around the disease of addiction, tools to sustain recovery through engagement, and reduce the stigma of addiction within our community. Our center is instrumental in our community in providing all people suffering from the disease of addiction a safe haven to get treatment options and support through all stages of their recovery. As addiction is classified as a family disease, in addition to helping the addict, we also provide tools and resources for the family in order to best recover through their own journey. RAA offers crisis interventions for the addict and the family, support meetings, 12 step introduction and family programs to keep addicts and families engaged. Our mission is to provide a platform and network for those who strive for recovery to achieve continuous, sustainable recovery.
This year, we are planning to make our Walk for Recovery the biggest it has ever been. All proceeds from the event will go directly into the organization's client care fund. This fund assists in making the transition from active addiction into recovery as seamless as possible. In many cases, we use our client care fund to cover transport costs (either by flight or by car), meals for clients, toiletries, overnight fees, medical costs, and sometimes even clothing for those indigent clients. In 2014, we spent over $55,000. In 2015, we spent over $80,000. While the number continues to increase, as the number of people seeking help increases, the ability to have access to this fund is crucial to the sustainability of our organization.
