The Rift Valley Relay is a six-person relay team charity race, covering 66 kilometers/41 miles, to raise funds and awareness for Open Arms International and Open Arms Village, located in the Rift Valley region of Kenya. Open Arms Village is a community of orphaned and vulnerable children and babies who live in a place of hope and healing in family homes with a Kenyan mother and father.
The Rift Valley Relay is held in the spectacular scenery of western, central Kenya near the city of Eldoret. The race starts at an altitude of 6,900 feet and finishes at 8,700 feet. Runners will race through portions of three counties known for producing world-class runners. The relay begins in Nandi County, courses through Uasin Gishu County, and finishes at the edge of the stunning Great Rift Valley in Elgeyo Marakwet County.
The Rift Valley Relay is just the beginning of what will be a fantastic weekend. The race culminates on eight acres of land overlooking the Great Rift Valley where a celebratory late-afternoon and night-time concert will be held. Several of the biggest names in Kenyan music will be on hand to celebrate the event late into the night. Participants will camp on-site and enjoy the concert, good friends, and good food.
