Our team consists of Ryan Andrews, Shawn Murray, Jeff Schorsch, and Dan Wolf. Training out of Burr Ridge Kettlebell Club, Hans and Franz and the two Beards are high school friends bonded together by swimming club, interest in all things nerd, and general tom foolery. Please support us as we lift heavy weights! Please see below for a message from Mike Connelly the host of this competition and fundraiser.

An integral part of Rebell's and Burr Ridge Kettlebell Club's communities is to give back. To help those who may not be able to help themselves or who themselves have sacrificed so much for us. We have done pushups and rucked for veterans, get ups and swings for cancer patients, and carried water for villages across the world that do not have fresh water readily available to them. We are an active community with a fire in our bellies to make a difference. A difference not only in our health through responsible training but also in the communities in which we live. About a year ago I was speaking with my wife about possible charitable efforts in Rebell's future. That's when I first heard of Cammy Can.
Cammy is a beautiful and vibrant young lady that is in a battle with Rett Syndrome. This was the first time that I had heard of Rett Syndrome as well.
From my sister who is a speech pathologist and works directly with another young lady with Rett Syndrome: "you are born "normal" and then between 6-18 months your motor system basically regresses. No walking, talking, breathing becomes labored - really any motor movements are a huge challenge and yet, at least in the case of my student, cognitive skills are normal." Essentially, these young ladies are "trapped" in their own bodies. Rett is essentially a prison of sorts. Heartbreaking.
There is hope in action here. Rett Syndrome has been reversed in laboratories. By helping Rettsyndrome.org we are helping resarch a way to reverse this horrible syndrome and free these young ladies to be able to have control over their bodies once again.
On June 27th, teams of four are going to compete in five strength events to push themselves to efforts they have not gone to yet. We do this in honor of those who cannot and to raise funds and awareness for Rettsyndrome.org.
After the event at Rebell Strength and Conditioning, there will be an after party open to all at D'Agostino's Pizza at Addison and Southport. There will be a food and drink package along with a raffle with great prizes.
If you would like to participate in the event or volunteer to help out in any way, please contact Mike Connelly at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Thank you for your generosity! It will go a long way to helping put a smile on a young lady's face!
