BENEFITING: HOPEWORKS OF HOWARD COUNTY INC
ORGANIZER: HOPEWORKS OF HOWARD COUNTY INC
I'm so excited to let you all know that I'm supporting HopeWorks of Howard County as part of The Allstate Foundation Purple Purse Challenge, a funraising campaign launched by Allstate.
To give back, The Allstate Foundation will be donating $500,000 to ignite public awareness and fundraising for charities benefiting domestic violence survivors. The charity that raises the most throughout the Challenge, will get a $100,000 donation; second place gets $75,000, third gets $50,000, fourth gets $25,000 and 5th-10th each get $10,000. We're out to raise as much money as possible for our cause so we can win the $100,000 grand prize donation.
We think we can win and to do so, I definitely need your help. I'll be sending emails throughout the Challenge and I'll be asking for you to donate. Every donation makes a difference, no matter how small. And it's all tax deductible.
I've been working for HopeWorks since 2012. I support HopeWorks because I believe in the cause.
HopeWorks is Howard County, Maryland’s sexual, dating and domestic violence center. We provide critical services to those impacted by domestic and sexual violence and raise awareness in the community.
We are proud of our strong tradition of service provision, and survivors will always need the specialized care our dedicated staff provides on a daily basis. Critical also to our mission is engaging the entire community in the work of changing the conditions that allow sexual and domestic violence to occur in the first place. This part takes all of us.
Domestic and sexual violence are not inevitable realities in our world.
We all benefit when individuals are free to live self-determined lives without the threat of sexual and domestic violence – not just survivors. Parents; law enforcement; businesses; students; day care providers; doctors; nurses and teachers; men and boys benefit. Families and friends will all be better off without these threats.
Prevention takes an entire community working together – challenging and changing the beliefs, attitudes and culture that allow them to exist. And it takes hope. Hope builds momentum and momentum creates change…when we work together.
Our community can be stronger and better and safer when we are all engaged in this work together. This is the spirit of our new name. It is a name we believe says as much about us as an agency as it does about us as a community.
We are HopeWorks. Each and every one of us.
We need you to help us win this challenge.
