BENEFITING: Bay Institute of San Francisco
The Bay Institute has been on the front lines fighting to protect and restore San Francisco Bay's historic wetlands. About 195,000 acres of wetland habitat used to ring the Bay. Now only 40,000 remain. Our goal is to help restore 100,000 acres of wetlands in the next 40-50 years. Wetlands provide critical habitat for fish and birds, act as a buffer protecting the shoreline from storms and help to remove pollutants from the water and the air. With your help, we can continue to influence key policymakers and the public to help restore these historic wetlands.
