A 13 mile, city-wide, pilgrimage to support The Pittsburgh Promise and Pittsburgh’s kids.
I have decided to walk to help raise funds and awarness because The Pittsburgh Promise was a determining factor in me pursuing my degree from PennState. Without The Pittsburgh Promise I would not have been able to earn my degree. Many of the children within the community from whence I come from look up to me and want to also go to college. I want to help ensure that they too have the opportunity to receive such a blessing.
We are walking to raise funds and awareness because many of our city’s children are suffering serious educational inequality. We believe that together we must link elbows around all of our kids to ensure that their lives, which are full of promise, are also full of opportunity. All proceeds from the walk will benefit The Pittsburgh Promise which safeguards that opportunity by providing college scholarships.
Show your support for The Pittsburgh Promise and Pittsburgh’s kids by walking or donating.
All are also welcome and encouraged to join us on October 18th at the finish line of the walk, for a free celebration and cookout at Sci -Tech in Oakland around 1:30pm!
