WE sees education as a catalyst that breaks the cycle of poverty and transforms communities.
In order to educate and empower youth who might not otherwise have the opportunity to attend secondary school, WE opened the Kisaruni Secondary School in 2011. It now has two campuses: Milimani and Oleleshwa. Ngulot Secondary School , an all boys sister school of the all girls Kisaruni, opened its doors in early 2017.
The young women and men from across the Maasai Mara who receive scholarships to attend our schools are passionate about learning, pursuing further education and, perhaps most of all, are committed to becoming a generation of learners with the ability to lead change in their communities.
During the 2017 RBC Global Citizen Award trip to Kenya the chosen RBC cohort was able to visit schools in WE Villages communities and experience the Education pillar in action empowering many of the initiatives that the partnership of WE and RBC supports. As a legacy gift and a personal initiative of the group, the RBCers have set a team goal of fundraising for two young people in Kenya to attend a WE secondary school and gain their high school education. One female and one male learner will be receiving a scholarship on behalf of this dedicated RBC group.
Their goal is large, but also reachable with the help of friends, family and other supporters.
