February 13, 2016
BENEFITING: MENDED LITTLE HEARTS INC
EVENT DATE: Feb 07, 2016
The someone I love with a CHD (Congenital Heart Defect) is my best friend's son. His name is Preston, and he is the most polite, endearing, and soft spoken, 2 year old I have ever met. It was at this time last year that he was in Children's Hospital, preparing for a life saving surgery to insert an artificial valve, and repair his mitral valve stenosis.
February 7-14 is CHD Awarness Week, and I have pledged to run 26.2 miles to raise CHD awareness and fundraise in support of an organization called Mended Little Hearts, which provides support services to the families of little ones with CHD's while in the hospital.
About 1 in every 110 babies will be born with a congenital heart defect, making it the most common birth defect in the USA;, and 25% will need heart surgery or other interventions to survive.
You can join me, as this is a virtual run/event! You choose your distance. You can walk, jog, or run anywhere you choose, even indoors, and you have a whole week to complete the race. It is only $25 to register, and registration is now open, but the "race" takes place during CHD Awareness Week, from February 7-14, 2016.
If you would prefer not to register, but still want to donate to benefit CHD awareness, and Mended Little Hearts, please click on "Donate to this Fundraiser"
