Polycystic Kidney Disease (PKD) is a hereditary disease that runs in my family, one with no treatment or cure. This past summer, my uncles, Bryan and Thomas, were lucky enough to receive kidney transplants that were selflessly donated by his wife Cathy and my cousin's wife Amanda respectively. While I cannot hope to match the selflessness shown by my Aunt Cathy or cousin Amanda, they've inspired me to raise money for the Polycystic Kidney Disease Foundation to fund research for this cause. Although I am fortunate not to have inherited this disease, PKD has affected multiple members of my family including my uncles, my late grandfather, my late great aunt, my cousin, and potentially numerous future relatives. This upcoming November, I am running the 2015 New York City Marathon for the PKD Foundation and all those who are affected by PKD. All donations are given to the PKD Foundation with the purpose of finding better treatments or possibly a cure for this widespread disease. Thank you in advance for both your donations and your support for this cause that has affected numerous generations of my family.
