The “Old Settlers VFW Post 4659” located in Shelby Twp., Michigan is
asking for donations to support 2 new roofs for our building.
Our present roofs are over 30 years old, and it is time to replace them
because of disintegrating shingles, numerous leaks and rotting wood.
The VFW Post 4659 has been in Shelby Twp. for over 75 yrs
proudly serving our Veterans and our Community. Services provided
our community include Funeral Honor Guards, sponsoring Scout Packs and
Troops, awarding Scholarships for further education, support for the homeless
and always honoring our fallen Heroes with Honor Guard and Funeral Ceremonies.
VFW Post 4659 members take great pride in the ceremonies held on Memorial Day,
Veterans Day, and Labor Day to name just a few. Promoting civic responsibility,
patriotism, and supporting youth and local programs in communities across
Michigan are just a few of the many ways we give back to those who have afforded
us our freedom and the community that is so supportive of us.
Because of Corona Virus and our forced closing, we have used what
funds we had to pay the bills and we lack the money to replace our
Hall and Clubroom roofs. Our best quote for the replacement is in the
area of $40,000 and this has hit us at the worst time possible. Up to
this point, we have managed to be totally self-supporting during this
closure but we are now asking for your needed support.
Please help VFW Post 4659 continue to honor the sacrifice of
America’s Veterans beyond military service by being there to support
them during rough times, and by helping them with a wide range of
programs and services.
