BENEFITING: National Stroke Assn.
ORGANIZER: National Stroke Assn.
EVENT DATE: Nov 01, 2015
Hi ! Welcome to my crowdrise page.
I'm running my first ever marathon in New York City on November 1st with a team supporting the National Stroke Association.
Stroke is the fourth leading cause of death in America and a leading cause of adult disability. My dad survived two strokes in recent years and, together with my mum, has adjusted to a new life living with the results. My folks were relatively lucky and I'm grateful it wasn't worse. I am especially grateful for the brilliant support from occupational and physiotherapists who not only helped my dad back on his feet, but also gave so much information, reassurance and emotional support to my mum.
Many myths surround the disease. Information and understanding are a key part of every rehabilitation. Additionally every stroke survivor faces their own unique set of rehabilitation challenges. The National Stroke Association provides stroke education, and programs to stroke survivors, caregivers, and healthcare professionals. These programs and material are provided to the stroke community for free.
So please join me in supporting the work of the National Stroke Association by donating what you can. On November 1st I will be running for my family and for everyone of you that donate.
