BENEFITING: The V Foundation
EVENT DATE: Nov 05, 2017
I’ve always wanted to help.
So when I saw that WWE’s Conner’s Cure was working with The V-Foundation in putting together a team for the NYC Marathon , I knew right away that I had to be a part of this, I jumped on the opportunity!
It’s been a while, sure, since I’ve run. Once upon a time, in magical lands called high school and college, I was a decent distance runner. Even got to an ok level, even became NYU's first All-American in a hand full of decades in cross country. Ah… glory days. But then my interests ran off elsewhere, namely into acting, which through life's twists and turns led me to another childhood dream, the WWE. Meanwhile that desire to help others has always stayed. It can't just be about me.
Well, now I'm on the cusp of 40, and I haven't run for a good 15-20 years. But the spirit of a runner is in there somewhere, I know it. And I know as well, the spirit to help is there too. So then why not don my old running shorts (I knew I kept them for some reason, and fotunately, they got a lot of stretch), and help gain a little bit of ground in a fight that has affected far too many, including my mother, my uncle, my wife’s aunt Belinda, and Conner Michalek, for whom this charity is named, and who seemed like the sweetest little boy in the world. It’s truly, truly an honor.
Thank you so much for visiting this page. Thank you for any contribution that you make, big or small. Thank you for helping me be a part of the good fight!
And so now besides the miles, I just have to practice my Yes chant for the finish line. Yes!
