BENEFITING: MINDS MATTER
ORGANIZER: MINDS MATTER
EVENT DATE: Mar 20, 2016
Hi! My name is Joy, and I'm currently a second-year student at Princeton University. This year, I decided to challenge myself physically and mentally by taking on my first half marathon, and I've decided to give meaning to my miles by running for Minds Matter, a non-profit organization that helps accomplished high-school students with low-income backgrounds achieve success.
I remember crying out of shock when I first got into Princeton, because it truly is incredible to be at such a resource-rich place with so many talented students and esteemed faculty. However, it also holds true that many students are not afforded the same opportunities—often times due to factors that they have no control over. It is easy to be a part of an elite institution and believe that we've gotten here on our own accord by having stellar academic records and extracurriculars, when really, we forget that our circumstances play a major role. Hence, I have been fortunate, and I'd like to pay it forward.
I hope you would also be able to get behind this cause—any support is greatly appreciated. (Even moral!)
